According to the LA Times, Southern California Edison agreed to purchase 265MW of electricity from ESolar’s new solar power plant being developed in the Antelope Valley. This is great news, and worth highlighting.
As a side note, here is an interesting stat in the article: Edison “says it buys more than 90% of the solar power produced in the U.S., Interesting right? What are all the other utilities doing? LADWP? What do you have to say for yourself?
I am surprised that more companies have not followed Google’s leadership and invested in solar to defray future energy costs. Hell, if I was a mall developer and saw the amount of square miles of concrete parking lots I would be itching to install solar panels as shade. Not only would this reduce future energy bills… imagine the PR bonanza one could get… in addition to marketing to a more upscale market as ecofriendly.
I really do wonder about the inability of corporate leaders to gauge risk and reward sometimes.
